A meeting on economic and trade exchange between Chinese and European businesspeople was held in Urumqi on May 8, with the participation of businesspeople from countries such as Spain and the Netherlands, as well as representatives of approximately 60 Chinese companies based in East Turkistan.
According to a report by the China Daily, 18 members of the European business delegation and representatives of relevant Chinese institutions in East Turkistan participated in the meeting. The meeting discussed expanding trade cooperation, artificial intelligence technology, cross-border e-commerce, expert exchanges, and preparations for the Asia-Europe (China) Commodity Trade Fair, which will be held this year in East Turkestan.
The report stated that trade volume between China and Europe has increased from $2.4 billion in the early stages to $780 billion today, that the number of China-Europe freight train trips has exceeded 100,000, and that East Turkestan is a pivotal region in the Belt and Road Initiative.
China is currently preparing for the 2025 Asia-Europe (China) Commodity Trade Fair, which will begin on June 26. Invitations to participate in the exhibition were sent to embassies and consulates in China from approximately 80 countries, as well as to thousands of Chinese companies.
Despite the European Union's adoption of a resolution against forced labor, hundreds of witnesses, reports, and leaked documents from within, and even attempts by Uyghurs subjected to forced labor to make their voices heard by emblazoning "Save the Uyghurs" on products, most companies' business relationships continue, citing a lack of concrete evidence, while China continues to export forced labor products unhindered to European and Asian countries.
