Vietnam has protested China's behavior in the South China Sea

Vietnam has protested China's decision to deploy a naval hospital ship to the South China Sea.
Voice of America reported on May 31 that China had sent a naval hospital ship to the Paracel Islands (which China claims are the Shisha Islands) to protest Vietnam's alleged violation of China's sovereignty. Although the Paracel Islands are currently occupied by China, Vietnam and Taiwan insist that the islands' small coral reefs are theirs.
In response to a question about the dispatch of a Chinese military hospital ship to the Paracel Islands, a deputy spokesperson of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Vietnam opposes the presence of the Chinese ship in the Paracel Islands and all actions that violate its sovereignty.
It is reported that the military hospital ship "Friendship" is commanded by the Southern Command of the Chinese Armed Forces. According to China Central Television, the warship traveled about 1,000 kilometers around the Paracel Islands, stopping at some islands to provide medical services to Chinese soldiers.
Online media outlet "Vietnam Express News" said that Vietnam opposes any action that violates Vietnam's sovereignty and rights to its islands in accordance with the "Law of the Sea Convention" adopted by the United Nations in 1982.
