After the Ukrainian government recently announced the participation of a group of Chinese soldiers in the fighting for Russia and China's supply of weapons to Russia, it also announced this week that China has supplied 20 Russian defense industry factories with vital materials.
According to a Reuters report on the matter, the head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko, said on May 26, when meeting Ukrainian journalists: "The information we have obtained shows that China is supplying Russian state defense industry factories with spare parts, special chemical products, ammunition, and related components."
He also confirmed that there are 20 related facilities in Russia, and that Ukrainian intelligence services have obtained information about at least five agreements related to cooperation between China and Russia in the aviation sector for the period from 2024 to 2025.
In response to a Reuters reporter's question on this issue on May 27, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning denied the accusations and repeated old statements, stating that China is making efforts to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war, has not supplied any side with lethal weapons, and stands against false accusations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had announced in his statements last month that he had obtained intelligence from Ukrainian security services regarding the participation of at least 155 Chinese nationals fighting on behalf of Russia, and China's supply of weapons and ammunition to Russia. The Ukrainian government recently included three Chinese companies in addition to Russian companies and institutions on its sanctions list.
