U.S. sanctions 31 Chinese companies

The US Department of Commerce and Industry yesterday added 43 companies, including 31 Chinese companies, to the Export Control List for participating in activities and operations against the interests of the United States.

31 Chinese companies on the list

The 31 Chinese companies and organizations on the sanctions list are accused of improper activities to support China's military modernization program in the hypersonic weapons industry by purchasing American-made products.

The companies include branches of the Border Services Group in China, Kenya, Laos and the United Arab Emirates, and branches of a pilot testing Academy in South Africa, China, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. The branches of the China Aviation Industry Group (AVIC) in China and South Africa were also added to the sanctions list.

Response from China

According to China Radio International, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, while assessing the work of the United States at a regular press conference, said: "in order to defend its dominant position in the military, scientific and technological fields, the United States defiantly popularized the concept of national security, abused state power, and tried to unreasonably suppress Chinese enterprises. The initiatives of the United States have seriously harmed the stability of global industry and supply chains, as well as violated the international economic and trade order and world trade rules. The United States has resorted to all means to achieve its goals ".

Referring to their strong opposition to the US practice, Wang expressed their desire that the United States immediately stop using export control tools such as the asset list to suppress Chinese companies, and immediately reverse the mistake of politicizing economic, trade, scientific and technological issues under the pretext of military and human rights issues, and use them as tools or weapons. He added that China will continue to take the necessary measures to defend the legitimate rights and interests of its companies.
