TikTok deletes videos related to Uyghur human rights violations

Uyghurs living abroad say they believe China is behind the deletions.
Nefise Oguz, a Uyghur student in Turkey, posted a video on TikTok debating a nationalist Turkish politician about the Uyghur genocide. The video was quickly removed by TikTok, which claimed it violated community guidelines. This sparked outrage from Uyghurs, who say TikTok frequently deletes content critical of China's policies in East Turkistan (Xinjiang).
TikTok's Chinese parent company ByteDance denies having ties to the Chinese government, which censors such content. However, experts say TikTok likely removes videos that go against Beijing's interests. Uyghurs living abroad report having their accounts suspended or videos deleted for discussing human rights abuses.
This is not the first time TikTok has been accused of suppressing Uyghur-related content. Past incidents include the deletion of a Uyghur activist's videos and the temporary suspension of an account that used an eyelash tutorial to raise awareness about East Turkistan concentration camps.
