The United States has recognized Arunachal as Indian territory, and China has objected to this.
According to Voice of America news, the US government recognized Arunachal as part of India on March 20, and emphasized that it is strongly opposed to unilateral territorial claims in the territory bordering India and China. China protested this and announced its strong opposition to US recognition of Arunachal as Indian territory.
US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said on March 20 that the United States had recognized Arunachal as Indian territory, and the dispute began to intensify again.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian has claimed at a regular press conference that the border between China and India has never been demarcated, and that Arunachal (which China calls "Southern Tibet") has always been Chinese territory.
China considers the Indian territory of Arunachal as a part of Tibet, and because of this, it has also complained about India's infrastructure projects in the region.
China has also opposed visits by Indian leaders to Arunachal, which has fueled tensions in the region over the past year. In August last year, when China released a new national map showing Arunachal as a part of China, India strongly protested against China. In April last year, China also renamed 11 places in the state, including rivers and mountain peaks.
