After the conflict between Israel and Hamas, McDonald's announced that it would provide free meals to Israeli soldiers, a move that received international criticism.
A series of posts on the "X" platform claimed that Israeli soldiers were seen carrying their free meals from McDonald's branches in several Israeli cities.
On Instagram, the "McDonald's Israel" page posted images showing solidarity with the state of Israel. "McDonald's Israel" wrote comments in Hebrew on multiple pictures, saying, "These are soldiers and warriors who came here to receive their free meals provided to the Israeli army as in-kind donations."
The page also posted another image indicating that McDonald's is donating free meals to thousands of Israeli soldiers, stating, "The number of our in-kind donations to the Israeli army, rescue forces, security, and those affected by the attacks is 12,000 meals, and we will continue our extensive donation campaign, providing thousands of meals daily."
McDonald's Israel also wrote on Instagram, "We want to donate thousands of meals to the airports and military bases every day, and more attention will be given to the soldiers who come to the restaurant."
Many social media users have called for a global boycott of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain. Protests erupted in Lebanon on October 13th, shortly after the announcement. The McDonald's branch in Lebanon issued a statement regarding this matter, stating, "The position of McDonald's in other countries does not represent the position of its Lebanese branch."
Additionally, McDonald's Turkey officially announced on Friday that it would provide humanitarian support worth one million dollars to the oppressed people of Gaza affected by the war, especially for women, children, and the elderly.
