The European Parliament launches an investigation into a bribery case related to Huawei.

The European Parliament has launched an investigation into bribery linked to Chinese technology company Huawei.

According to Al Jazeera on March 14, Belgian authorities have arrested several individuals as part of the European Parliament's investigation into bribery linked to the Chinese technology company Huawei. The suspects have been involved in bribery activities since 2021, concealing their bribery under the guise of lobbying for Huawei through lavish gifts, meetings, and parties.

Investigators are also investigating money laundering related to meeting expenses. After searching 21 locations in Belgium and Portugal, a judge ordered the offices of two parliamentary assistants in Strasbourg to be sealed, but details about the suspects have not yet been revealed.

Huawei currently has nine accredited representatives in Europe, who have access to meetings with members of the European Parliament. However, they are currently barred from entering the Parliament building.
