Taliban denies Chinese presence at US air base

The Taliban government has denied Trump's claims that Chinese troops are stationed at a former US air base in Afghanistan.

According to the South China Morning Post on March 3, Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid responded to US President Donald Trump's claims that Chinese troops are stationed at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan in a recent interview with Afghan state television.

He denied Trump's claims, saying that these claims were based on emotional and false information, that there are no Chinese troops in Afghanistan, and that the Bagram Air Base is under Taliban control.

He also told reporters that the military equipment left behind by the US in Afghanistan belonged to the former Afghan government, that the Taliban planned to use the equipment for national defense, and that the equipment left behind by the US would be considered war booty.

Zabihullah Mujahid also said that he expected the Taliban to pay compensation for the damage caused by the US during its 20-year military occupation. The United States invaded Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks in 2001. The American withdrawal was completed in August 2021, followed by a peace agreement with the Taliban.
