Sarajevo Summit: Charting the World Uyghur Congress's Path Forward

The eighth conference of the primary Uyghur diaspora organization elected a new leadership. Its mission is now more important and challenging than ever.
Recently, the largest Uyghur organization abroad held a significant meeting that launched these oppressed people into a new phase of struggle.

Reviewing the organization's charter
Adopting a new Article 17 with a code of conduct
Strengthening accountability mechanisms
THE NEW LEADERSHIP FACES SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES IN:
Maintaining international attention on the Uyghur issue
Countering Chinese Communist Party's intimidation tactics
Continuing peaceful struggle for Uyghur rights
The conference theme was "From Bosnian Genocide to Uyghur Genocide: Lessons Learned," discussing topics like international justice, genocide denial, and building solidarity.
The ultimate hope is that the Uyghur people can soon stop organizing for survival and instead focus on more positive pursuits, which would mean the end of the Chinese Communist Party's brutal campaign against them.
