Russian and Chinese high-ranking officials held secret talks

It has been revealed that high-ranking Russian and Chinese officials discussed the Russian-Crimea tunnel construction project in secret.
"Washington Post" reported on November 24, quoting information obtained from Ukrainian security services, that Chinese and Russian business organizations with ties to the government held secret talks to discuss the construction of an undersea tunnel connecting Russia to Crimea. The talks were held due to security concerns over the 18-kilometer bridge across the Kerik Strait in Russia, which was recently bombed twice by Ukraine. At present, this bridge has become an easy target in war.
Experts said that the construction of an undersea tunnel near such a bridge would not only face huge obstacles, but also be an expensive project that would take several years, and that this project would be the first to be tested in a war zone. Experts are surprised by China's participation in the project, and it is said that the project may be destroyed by the Ukrainian side.
The tunnel provides a secure link to the disputed territory. For China, the project could provide yet another investment in its growing inventory of global ports and transportation infrastructure projects that could take a toll on Russian oil and gas exports.
