On the night of November 6, a red aurora flashed in many parts of East Turkistan.
According to the so-called "Xinjiang newspaper", the sky of the Altai region of East Turkistan was lit up by the red aurora on the evening of November 5 and the night of November 6. This is the first time that this kind of red and green aurora has been seen and recorded in the region. It is reported that this kind of aurora was also seen in Urumqi that night.
It turns out that this kind of aurora phenomenon, also known as the "natural aurora phenomenon" in the polar regions, is formed by the interaction between the solar storm and the Earth's magnetic field. When charged particles from the solar wind enter the Earth's magnetic field, they interact with gas molecules in the atmosphere, creating colorful auroras. Auroras usually occur along magnetic fields near the magnetic poles. This phenomenon is most common near the North and South Poles.
