Press Conference on the Topic of 'Voice of East Turkistan Women

A press conference and group breakfast titled “Being a Woman Under Occupation: The Voices of East Turkistan Women” was held in the Sefaköy district of Istanbul on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8.

The event was held in collaboration with the Migrants and Refugees Association, the International Union of East Turkistan Organizations, the East Turkistan Nozugum Cultural and Family Association, and the East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association.

During the event, Muzin Taşcıoğlu, Chairperson of the Migrants and Refugees Association, and Vuldan Kadi Oğlu Saryasar, Researcher at the East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association, delivered statements.

The statement detailed the serious violations committed by China in East Turkistan, including the systematic suppression of women and girls, their detention in concentration camps, forced killings, forced labor, separation of children from their families, and attempts to erase Uyghur identity.

The statement also addressed the risk of torture and death that the 40 Uyghurs forcibly returned to China by the Thai government on February 27 may face and called on the international community to take responsibility for the future of these 40 Uyghurs.
