Britain urgently summoned the Chinese ambassador

The UK summoned China's ambassador to the UK to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and accused the Hong Kong intelligence agencies of espionage in the UK.
According to Voice of America, on May 14, the British Foreign Office summoned the Chinese ambassador to the UK, Zheng Zeguang, to complain about three spies accused of violating the UK's National Security Act 2023 for spying in the UK for Hong Kong's foreign intelligence agency.
The "Daily Telegraph" reported on May 14 that the British foreign official asked Zheng Zeguang to explain the espionage case. The media contacted the British Foreign Ministry and asked for details about the incident, but the British side has not yet responded.
The British government on Monday charged three people with violating national security laws, aiding the Hong Kong intelligence agency, and meddling in foreign affairs. The three were arraigned in a London court on the same day and were released on bail, but were barred from leaving the country. The three men were charged with intelligence gathering, surveillance, and fraud by assisting Hong Kong intelligence agencies in the UK.
Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachau defended Hong Kong's UK-based Economic and Trade Office on Tuesday, saying he would not accept any unwarranted accusations against his special government.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbei also defended China's behavior in yesterday's press conference, announcing that the British side blackmailed China, that China firmly opposes it, and that the British government should protect the legal rights and interests of Chinese citizens.
