New Chinese Scandal: A "Fake Museum" to Justify the Occupation of East TurkIstan

China has attempted to embellish and distort the history of its occupation of East Turkistan by establishing a special museum for the so-called "West Regional Governor's Office," announcing its official opening to coincide with International Museum Day.

According to a report by the alleged "Xinjiang Radio and Television Administration," the "West Regional Governor's Office Museum" was officially opened in Bogor on May 18. The report repeatedly claimed that the artefacts on display in the museum demonstrate that East Turkistan has been under the rule of the Chinese central government at every stage and reflect the long-term process of communication and integration among various ethnic groups.

This propaganda museum reportedly took two years to build and consists of five sections: "Establishing the Governor's Office," "Governance in the Western Lands," "Exploring Distant Lands," "Taking the Rules of the Han Dynasty as a Model," and "Building with a Single Structure." A total of 463 artefacts were on display.

The report stated that one of the bronze bells displayed in the museum was one of the most valuable artefacts used only by high-ranking figures. It also made brazen claims that this proved that high-ranking Chinese officials lived in East Turkistan at that time.

China frequently uses the "West Province Governor's Office" to distort and embellish the history of its brief occupation of East Turkistan. In particular, it repeats brazen claims in its private meetings, media, publications, and textbooks, such as that East Turkistan has been an "integral part of China" since 60 BC and subsequently became the "hereditary land" of various ruling dynasties throughout history.

However, these Chinese claims have been rejected by respected historians and researchers, and their fabricated monuments and museums only serve its false propaganda. The constant changes to the original location of the "West Province Governor's Office" and the stories surrounding it also reveal China's forgery.
