Kazakhstan announced the total statistics of the local population, and the number of Uyghurs is approaching 300,000.
According to the Kazakhstan International news agency, the website of the National Bureau of statistics of Kazakhstan published the census report today.
According to the report, based on the nationwide population census of 2021, Kazakhs accounted for 70.4% of the total population, and compared with the 2009 census, the population of Kazakhs increased from 10 million to 13.4 million, an increase of 33.7%. This means that the share of the Kazakh population in the total population of the country increased from 63.1% to 70.4%.
The report also announced the number of residents of other nationalities in the country, and among the ethnic groups of Kazakhstan, after the Kazakhs, the largest population is occupied by Russians, numbering 2,900,000 people. In second place are the Uzbeks, numbering 614 thousand people. The third place is taken by Ukrainians, with a total of 387 thousand. The Uyghurs are in fourth place, numbering 290 thousand people.
But according to the Uyghurs of Kazakhstan, the data on the number of Uyghurs is allegedly incorrect, and the number of Uyghurs exceeds one million at the very least.
