Kazakhstan President Tokayev Declares Developing Relations with China as This Year's Primary Foreign Policy Goal
According to Kazakhstan Daily News, President Tokayev stated on January 22 that Kazakhstan-China relations are at their best historical point, and developing relations with China is the primary direction of Kazakhstan's foreign policy.
Tokayev made these remarks while receiving a letter from Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin, who emphasized China's commitment to deepening their perpetual comprehensive strategic partnership.
In recent years, China's influence in Central Asia, especially Kazakhstan, has significantly expanded, causing concern among perceptive individuals about China's potential ulterior motives.
In 2020, Chinese websites circulated posts titled "Why Doesn't Kazakhstan Return to the Motherland?", revealing China's questionable intentions. Kazakhstan responded by summoning the Chinese ambassador and expressing displeasure, after which the posts were removed.
Observers note that after consolidating its position in East Turkistan, China has begun increasing its ambitions and influence in the five Central Asian states, warning that these countries should be cautious of China's intentions.
