AS MANY AS 56 UYGHURS DETAINED
As a matter of fact, many Uyghur Turks, who fled the persecution of China and migrated to reach the third safe country via Thailand in 2014, were detained by the Thai authorities at China's request.
In July 2015, the Thai government had sent 173 Uyghurs, mostly women and children, to Turkey.
However, a week later, 109 Uyghurs were deported to China and faced potential death. According to the latest information, there are currently 52 to 56 detained Uyghur Turks distributed in various prisons in Thailand. The main reason for the arbitrary detention of these Uyghurs for a long time is seen as the Chinese regime's pressure and persistent demands on the Thai authorities.
The East Turkistan Diaspora and international human rights organizations express serious concerns about the repetition of this tragedy and are making efforts to clarify the situation and ensure the safety of Uyghur Turks. It appears that many countries, including Thailand, have accepted China's hegemony in the face of its economic and technological power, which means that the lives of Uyghurs are at risk.
