Japan protests China's military actions

Japanese and Chinese defense ministers hold talks, with Japanese defense minister expressing his opposition to China's military actions.
According to a report by Radio France Internationale, Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani held talks with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on November 21. During the talks, Gen Nakatani stressed that he was paying close attention to the activities of the Chinese military around Japan. He also expressed strong dissatisfaction with the violation of Japanese airspace by Chinese military aircraft and urged that such incidents be prevented from happening again.
According to the report, the two sides agreed to promote dialogue between their defense agencies to build on the "strategic mutually beneficial relationship" that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed. This was the second meeting between the Japanese and Chinese defense ministers since June this year and the first since Japan's new defense minister, Nakatani, took office.
At the beginning of the meeting, Nakatani stressed his deep concern over China's increasing military activities, saying, "It is very important to maintain open discussions and communication between defense agencies."
During the meeting, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun said that Japan is paying close attention to its actions on Taiwan and the Senkako Islands, and claimed that face-to-face talks between the two countries' defense ministries are of great significance to Sino-Japanese relations and regional peace.
