Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chinese ambassador

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassador in Tehran to the ministry and expressed its displeasure over the sovereignty of some islands.
According to Voice of America, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chinese ambassador to Tehran on June 2 to protest China's and the United Arab Emirates' statements on the sovereignty of the three islands.
Both Iran and the United Arab Emirates claim sovereignty over the Abu Musa Islands and the Greater and Lesser Tunb Islands. But Iran has occupied these three islands since 1971. Soon, the seven Arab caliphates in the Gulf broke away from Britain, gained independence, and later formed the United Arab Emirates. The United Arab Emirates is currently allied with the United States.
According to Iranian state media, Iran summoned China's ambassador to Tehran and expressed its opposition to China's support for baseless ideas in the joint statement it issued with the United Arab Emirates. Iranian state media said: "Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs insists that these three islands are the country's permanent territory, and we hope that China will change its position on this issue."
It turns out that China has been one of Iran's biggest trading partners for the past 10 years.
