Indonesia has banned TikTok

"Indonesia's Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, announced the ban on conducting sales on social media platforms. During a press conference held in the capital city of Jakarta, Hasan stated that they have prohibited sales on social media platforms and provided a one-week grace period for compliance with this regulation.
Hasan emphasized that the government aims to protect businesses that conduct face-to-face sales and intends to ensure "fair and honest competition" with this decision.
It is expected that the ban on selling products through social media platforms will have the most significant impact on TikTok. TikTok is reported to have 125 million monthly active users in Indonesia and a total of 325 million active users in Southeast Asia."
"A spokesperson for TikTok in Indonesia had previously stated that this regulation would affect the livelihoods of more than 6 million people on the platform.
It had previously come to light that ByteDance, the company that owns the application, was sharing users' personal data with the Chinese government and collecting personal data without permission. Currently, TikTok is banned in various countries and regions, including all institutions of the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, the United States, India, and Taiwan, due to its Chinese origin."
