The Indian Navy has deployed submarines and warships in the Indian Ocean to counter Chinese threats.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Indian Navy recently launched a submarine, a destroyer, and a fleet support ship at a state-owned shipyard. This action comes at a time when the Chinese navy's power is steadily increasing, with India emphasizing the importance of trade and security in the Indian Ocean region.
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the global powers' shift towards the Indian Ocean. Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted the advancement in India's defense equipment manufacturing capabilities.
Reportedly, the newly launched INS Vagsheer submarine is part of India's submarine fleet modernization project. India currently has 16 submarines, and during Modi's upcoming visit to France, they plan to finalize a deal to purchase three additional Scorpene submarines.
Additionally, India strengthened its naval defense capabilities against regional rivals in 2022 by commissioning its first domestically built aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant.
