India condemns China for changing land names

India has opposed China's change of names of some places belonging to Arunachal.
According to Voice of America, the Indian government on April 2 rejected the recent move by the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs to change the names of 30 Indian states in Arunachal, calling the move meaningless and reiterating that Arunachal is, of course, an integral part of India. .
Not only does China claim Arunachal (which China calls southern Tibet), it also named 11 sites in Arunachal with Chinese names a year ago, raising tensions between the two sides.
The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a statement last Saturday in which it said that it had consolidated some land titles in Arunachal in accordance with its regulations on land administration, and announced a fourth batch of 30 amended land titles in the so-called "South Tibet" region.
China's so-called "standardization" includes 11 communities, 12 mountain peaks, four rivers, lakes, mountain passes and wilderness areas. All other place names are written in Chinese, Tibetan and Pinyin.
Reuters quoted Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal as saying: “Raising names based on baseless speculation will not change the reality of Arunachal. Arunachal has been an integral part of India and will remain so.”
