Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh killed in Iran, dozens in Gaza

Hamas said its political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in “a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.”. Iran’s president vows to make Israel'regret cowardly action’, as Supreme Leader Khamenei says avenging Haniyeh’s killing is Tehran’s duty.
There was no immediate comment from Israel. The Israeli military said it was conducting a situational assessment.
This comes less than 24 hours after three people, including two children, were killed and 74 wounded in an Israeli strike in Beirut. The Israeli military described the attack “targeted assassination operation” against Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr.
A further 42 bodies were retrieved from eastern Khan Younis as Gaza officials say at least 255 Palestinians were killed during the nine-day Israeli army ground operation in the southern city.
At least 39,445 people have been killed and 91,073 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 were taken captive.
