Five more Chinese companies involved in Uyghur forced labor were sanctioned

On August 8, the United States also announced a ban on importing products from five Chinese companies accused of forced labor against Uyghurs.
Among these companies, Hong Kong-based Rare Earth Magnesium Technology Group and its parent company Century Sun Group produce magnesium fertilizers and magnesium alloy products. The other three companies are the so-called "Xinjiang" Qaba County Ashili Copper Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Zijin Mining Group, and the so-called "Xinjiang" Tengxiang Magnesium Products Co., Ltd. in Hamul.
The companies are blacklisted under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prohibition Act, and their products related to the genocide in East Turkistan are prohibited from being imported into the United States.
"Through today's enforcement action, we are preventing forced labor products from entering the U.S. supply chain," Robert Silvers, deputy assistant secretary for policy and head of the Interagency Law Enforcement Task Force on Forced Labor, said in a statement released by the Department of Homeland Security on Thursday. We have shown once again that they are trying not to allow it. "Companies must be audited and be clear about where their products come from."
The Uyghur Forced Labor Prohibition Act has been officially implemented since June 2022 with the support of bipartisanship in the US Congress and signed by President Joe Biden. The restricted list includes more than 70 products so far.
