According to the British Financial Times newspaper, the European Union (EU) is planning to cooperate with the United States to open anti-subsidy investigations against Chinese steel producers.
In recent times, the European Union has taken various measures concerning Chinese products, and now they are preparing for a new investigation related to the steel industry.
The British newspaper Financial Times reported, based on information from two officials, that the EU plans to initiate anti-subsidy investigations against Chinese steel producers.
ACCEPTING COLLABORATION WITH THE US
The announcement of this investigation is planned to be made at the summit to be held with the United States later this month. The EU had agreed to participate in the United States' efforts to protect industries from cheap competition.
The United States had called on the EU to take action against Chinese steel producers in exchange for avoiding the reinstatement of customs duties on EU steel, which was originally imposed by former US President Donald Trump.
According to preliminary information, during the meeting on October 20, it is expected that the EU and the US will announce a framework for sustainable steel and global aluminum regulation, which aims to restrict the export of Chinese metal.
This agreement will be open to other countries, including the UK and Japan, if they agree to impose customs duties on China.
The official notification regarding the investigation initiated by the European Commission against electric cars imported from China to EU member countries on the grounds of unfair competition has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
