Senior US official: We support Taiwan's participation in international organizations

The senior US China policy official said that he supports Taiwan's participation in international organizations, and that China will jointly oppose the distortion of UN General Assembly Resolution No. 2758.
According to Voice of America, Mark Baxter Lambert, the US State Department's senior official in charge of China and Taiwan affairs, spoke about Resolution 2758, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1971, in an event held at a think tank in Washington on April 29, which recognized the sovereignty of the US over Taiwan. He stressed that his failure to do so does not reflect his recognition of the so-called "principle of one," but the US's current policy does not support Taiwan's independence.
On April 29, Mark Lambert spoke at a seminar on "Disclosing China's Distortion of Resolution 2758 of the United Nations General Assembly" at the German Marshall Fund, a Washington-based think tank. He emphasized that the US's non-recognition of Taiwan's sovereignty does not mean it recognizes the so-called "one China principle.".
It is reported that China has claimed that the UN General Assembly Resolution No. 2758 is China's support for the so-called "one China principle" and has tried to use it as an excuse for taking back Taiwan's sovereignty and preventing Taiwan from participating in international organizations.
Mark Lambert rejects China's view of the Taiwan issue and describes four US views as follows:
First, the US's non-recognition of Taiwan's sovereignty in Section 2758 does not reflect its recognition of the "one-China principle," which refers to China's position on the Taiwan issue. Second, Resolution No. 2758 has nothing to do with the sovereign rights of countries regarding their relationship with Taiwan. Third, Resolution 2758 on the final political status of Taiwan does not constitute a position of the United Nations system. Fourth, Resolution 2758 does not restrict Taiwan's participation in the United Nations system and other relevant multilateral forums.
At the end of his speech, Mark Lambert said that the so-called "one China principle" is only the Chinese regime's position on Taiwan, and China mixed Resolution No. 2758 with the "one China principle" and claimed that Taiwan is part of China. and stressed that it is to undermine the partnership.
