Chinese people were attacked in Pakistan

Militants of the Balochistan Liberation Army, operating in the south of Iran and Pakistan, attacked a convoy transporting Chinese engineers to the Gwadar Port in southwestern Pakistan, which is financed by Beijing. Reports indicate that the attackers used light weapons and grenades in the assault. Security sources have confirmed the attack.
"THE ATTACKERS WERE KILLED”
Pakistani Senator Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti announced on social media platform X that no Chinese citizens were killed in the attack. The senator stated, "I strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on the convoy of Chinese workers in Gwadar." He further mentioned, "Thankfully, there was no loss of life, but according to some reports, the ambush was repelled, and the attackers were killed." Pakistan's state radio reported, quoting the military's communication department, that the situation was under control. The statement mentioned, "In the clash between security forces and militants in Gwadar, one terrorist was killed," and three people were reported injured.
TARGET: CHINA-PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR
Meanwhile, the Beijing administration has called on Pakistan to take practical steps to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens. This statement followed shortly after the attack on Chinese engineers in the southwestern Balochistan province. The Chinese government strongly condemned the attack. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated, "China urges Pakistan to severely punish the criminals and take practical and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens." The spokesperson also noted, "Any attempt to undermine the friendship between China and Pakistan and sabotage the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will never succeed." Initiated in 2014, the CPEC is a major investment project between China and Pakistan, attracting $25.4 billion in direct investment to Pakistan over a 10-year period. The CPEC is a significant economic and infrastructure project for China, providing access to the Arabian Sea through Pakistan's Gwadar Port. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ATTACK
Furthermore, it's noted that this attack is not the first carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army. In May 2019, a luxury hotel overlooking the Gwadar port in the Arabian Sea was attacked, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people. In a more recent incident in April 2022, three Chinese academics and Pakistani drivers lost their lives in a suicide attack by a woman as they entered the Confucius Institute at the University of Karachi. According to press sources, all of these attacks have been claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army, which aims to establish an independent state in parts of Iran and Pakistan's territories. CHINA CONDEMNS THE ATTACK
In addition, statements from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General in Karachi strongly condemned the attack. China called on Pakistan to activate its emergency plan, conduct a comprehensive investigation into the attack, and punish the attackers severely. The statement also emphasized that relevant units at all levels in the country should take practical and effective measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents. The statement further highlighted that China will continue to work with Pakistan to combat terrorism and effectively safeguard the security of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan.
