Conservation of the Uyghur Language and Civilization conference held in Ankara

On July 8, the “Conference of Preserving the Uyghur Language and Civilization While the Genocide Continues” was organized by the Uyghur Academy in Ankara.

Rushan Abbas, Executive Director of the Uyghur Movement, and President of the International Union of East Turkistan NGOs, Mr. Hidayet Oyuzkhan, President of the World Uyghur Congress Union, Mr. Abdulrashid Abdulhamid, as well as representatives of many East Turkistan organizations, Mr. Many valuable guests from all over the world such as Adrian Zenz attended.

In addition, a large number of academics and researchers from different parts of the world doing research on China and East Turkistan, educators providing Uyghur mother tongue education, and activists working against China's Uyghur genocide came to attend the Conference.

Making the opening speech, the President of the Uyghur Academy, Mr. Dr. Rishad Abbas said, “As you know, the Chinese government continues an ongoing genocide, and the Turkish peoples are exposed to serious sanctions and genocide in the Turkistan region. They want to destroy our language and culture. When we look at the genocide here, being together and protecting our language is also a moral duty. Today we want to talk about the Uyghur Genocide. We're going to talk about systematic extermination campaigns here, we're going to talk about what they're doing to eliminate us. At the same time, we will talk about what can be done to protect the Uyghur language and culture. We will talk about what can be done to increase cooperation.” said.

Subsequently, the conference was attended by Mr. Scott Wordin from the American Institute of Peace, Mr. Brian Vogt from the American International Development Agency, Ms. Liyili from the US Department of State, German Anthropologist Mr. Dr. Adrian Zenz and Deputy Chairman of the Future Party from Turkey, Deputy Mr. Selchuk Ozday, President of the International Union of East Turkistan NGOs, Mr. Hidayet Oyuzkhan and the President of the World Uyghur Congress, Mr. Dolkun Issa (online) delivered a separate greeting.

THEY DISCUSSED THE GENOCIDE IN THE LIGHT OF THE EVIDENCE

On the first day of the event, which will continue for 3 days until July 11 under the title "Conference to Protect the Uyghur Language and Civilization While the Genocide Continues", the participants will be in four sessions to conduct scientific studies and discussions on the topics. Current situation – Uyghur genocide, identity and culture destruction (discussion in the light of evidence); Challenges and opportunities in preserving Uyghur culture and language in the Diaspora; The importance of language preservation and education method in Uyghur language teaching; Nearly 30 researchers presented presentations, answered questions from the audience, and held discussions on topics such as establishing a transnational cooperation framework to preserve and maintain the Uyghur mother tongue and culture.
