China has increased pressure on the Pakistani government

China has pressured Pakistan to address safety issues for Chinese workers and construction projects in Pakistan.
According to Voice of America news, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Beijing on May 15 and praised the "unshakable" relationship with Pakistan. During the meeting, the two sides pledged to strengthen economic and security cooperation against terrorism.
Wang Yi said at a press conference that he had a conversation with Pakistan's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar and reiterated the commitments made between the officials of the two sides.
Ishaq Dar said in the interview: "We are concerned about the continued existence of terrorist organizations operating in Afghanistan, and we call on the Afghan interim government to take credible and verifiable actions against these organizations that use Afghan soil to threaten the peace and security of neighboring countries."
During the talks, Wang Yi announced that Pakistan should make every effort to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice. "I hope that Islamabad will ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, construction projects, and institutions in Pakistan and allay the concerns of Chinese companies and personnel," Wang Yi was quoted as saying by Chinese propaganda media.
A few weeks ago, a suicide bombing in northwest Pakistan killed five Chinese and a Pakistani driver, including an engineer working on a hydroelectric plant.
The Pakistani military announced the results of the March 26 attack earlier this month, claiming that the attack was carried out by an Afghan citizen and planned by Afghan-based terrorists.
