China punishes former US congressman

China has announced that it has punished former US congressman Mike Gallagher for his support for Taiwan.
According to Voice of America news, China announced on May 21 that it would freeze the assets of former US House of Representatives member Mike Gallagher and ban his entry into China due to his tough attitude towards China and his friendly attitude towards Taiwan.
According to the report, China's sanctions are the second step in Taiwan-related sanctions against Americans after the Chinese Communist regime announced on the day that Taiwan's new president Lai Chingde took office that it had sanctioned three US defense industry companies involved in arms sales to Taiwan.
China's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that it had taken action against Rep. Mike Gallagher, a Republican who chaired the US-China Strategic Partnership Committee before resigning in April.
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: "In recent years, former US House of Representatives member Mike Gallagher has often interfered in China's internal affairs, undermined China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and made statements and actions that violated China's interests." But he did not mention the details of his words or actions regarding China.
China's Ministry of Commerce is reported to have released the so-called "Untrustworthy Entity List Working Mechanism" in 2024, including US General Atomics Aerospace Systems, General Dynamics Land Systems, Boeing Defense, Aerospace It placed companies such as Space and Security Group on the list of untrustworthy entities, and the decision banned the three companies from engaging in China-related import and export activities, making new investments in China, and prohibiting their senior executives from entering China.
