China opens 47 new mines in East Turkistan in one year

China has intensified its plundering of East Turkistan's resources in recent years, adding 47 new so-called "green mines" in 2024 alone.
According to a January 11 report from Tengritagh Network, the so-called "Uyghur Autonomous Region" Natural Resources Administration revealed that throughout 2024, 47 new regional-level green mines were added. This includes 25 oil and natural gas sites, 12 coal mines, four iron mines, four copper-nickel mines, and one each of oil sand and copper mines. Currently, the total number of so-called "green mines" that China has opened through plundering East Turkistan has reached 158.
According to the report, the newly added regional-level green mines in 2024, particularly oil and natural gas wells, are concentrated in the Dzungarian Basin, Turpan-Kumul Basin, and Tarim Basin, while coal mines are distributed across Kumul, Sanji, Tarbaghatai, Aksu, and Korla.
To meet its oil and natural gas needs, China planned to drill more than 60 new wells in the Tarim Oilfield's Bozi-Dabei natural gas region during the so-called "14th Five-Year Plan" period in 2022. This gas field is planned for rapid drilling with an average annual increase rate of one million tons. Additionally, the mixed oil and natural gas composition found in East Turkistan's natural gas regions contains rare hydrocarbon components such as aromatic hydrocarbons and light hydrocarbons, which are crucial raw materials for China's high-grade petrochemical industry.
Observers note that China is using all natural resources extracted from East Turkistan for its own needs, while the rightful local owners are being subjected to forced labor under various pretexts. They point out that China has recently intensified its plundering, while the people of East Turkistan, the original owners of these resources, continue to live in poverty.
