In addition to the China-Central Asia Education Ministers' Meeting in Urumqi this week, China held several other international meetings. These Chinese actions are considered one of the tactics used to conceal its ethnic genocide.
According to Chinese media reports, in addition to the first China-Central Asia Education Ministers' Meeting in Urumqi on May 12, the 2025 China-Central Asia Cooperation in Production, Education, Research, and Practice Conference was also held on the same day. On May 13, the SCO Education Ministers' Meeting was held.
At the May 12 meeting, Ma Xingru claimed that the Chinese regime had implemented measures to manage East Turkistan in a comprehensive and integrated manner, and that it would deepen cooperation with various countries within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Central Asia Leaders' Summit mechanism.
At the meeting, relevant universities in China and Central Asian countries signed cooperation agreements. The establishment of the so-called "Xinjiang Advanced Research Institute" under the Ministry of Education also began.
Furthermore, the ninth Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Education Ministers' Meeting was held in Urumqi on May 13. High-level officials from countries including Russia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan attended the meeting.
The meeting announced the establishment of the SCO Digital Education Alliance and the China-SCO Doctoral Training and Innovation Center. It was also decided to hold the tenth meeting in Belarus.
In recent years, China has hosted several international meetings in Urumqi, including the joint SCO Anti-Terrorism Cooperation-2024 exercise in East Turkistan last July. Through these tactics, China is attempting to conceal the ethnic genocide in East Turkistan and project a false image of normalcy.
