China says it will investigate US fashion company PVH over its boycott of products made in East Turkistan.
According to French International News, China's Ministry of Commerce announced on September 24 that it will launch an investigation into PVH, the parent company of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, alleging that the company violated the principles of market trade and tried to ban products produced in East Turkistan.
China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that PVH had 30 days to submit documents and evidence detailing any discriminatory measures taken against products manufactured in East Turkistan in the past three years.
In another statement, China's Ministry of Commerce alleged that PVH had banned so-called "Xinjiang" cotton and other products without any factual basis.
PVH said in a statement on its official website that the company complies with the laws and regulations of the countries in which it operates, including the US government's laws related to forced labor in East Turkistan. PVH also said it is in contact with China's Ministry of Commerce and will respond appropriately to the matter.
