China Couldn't Hide Its Urgency for Trade Talks

Although China claims it "will not submit to the United States in any way and will continue to confront it to the end" in the current trade war and denies holding talks with the United States, photos of Chinese representatives entering the US Department of Commerce have been released.

The current trade war between the United States and China is the focus of global attention. US President Donald Trump stated last week that he is negotiating with China to reach an agreement, and that completing this stage could take several weeks. He also added that Xi Jinping had called him.

However, the Chinese Embassy in the United States issued a statement denying reports of trade talks between China and the United States. The statement stated that there had been no discussions or consultations between the two parties regarding tariffs, and that reaching an agreement was impossible.

However, despite China's attempt to build an image that it has not submitted to the United States under so-called "wolf warrior diplomacy," Korean media outlets captured photos of the Chinese delegation entering the US Department of Commerce. According to a special report by the Korea Central Daily, the United States and China were negotiating a trade agreement, and officials from both sides held a closed-door meeting in Washington on April 24. Korean reporters took photos of high-ranking Chinese officials and employees entering the U.S. Department of Commerce. When the reporters attempted to take more photos, Chinese employees blocked them and asked them to delete all the photos.

According to a report today in the Wall Street Journal, China, which had imposed 125% tariffs on all U.S. goods, has quietly lifted tariffs on some American products. These products include semiconductors, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical equipment, and aircraft parts, products that China cannot purchase from other countries.
