China continues to impose strict restrictions on Ramadan fasting in East Turkistan.

Information indicates that China is once again imposing strict restrictions on the Ramadan fasting of East Turkistan residents this year, using various repressive means.

According to a source who requested anonymity, China has imposed strict restrictions on fasting since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

The source revealed that Chinese authorities have deployed special patrols to prevent secret fasting. They conduct nighttime patrols in residential neighborhoods, monitor homes, and take photographs of any homes with lights on as proof. The next day, these homeowners are summoned to neighborhood committees or police stations for interrogation, asking questions such as: "Why were your lights on at night? Did you eat suhoor? Who in your family ate suhoor?" Even when interrogators offer excuses such as using the toilet, a sick child, or tending to livestock, Chinese police or officials do not believe these answers and force them to drink water to prove they are not fasting.

For years, China has been enacting terrorist policies aimed at comprehensively suppressing Islam and Muslims in East Turkistan, banning all Islamic-related speech, actions, and rituals. The ban on fasting during Ramadan is a repressive policy that has been in place since the beginning of the Chinese occupation and has been tightened and expanded in recent years.

Previous reports have revealed the ten rules China uses as a basis for detaining Uyghurs in internment camps and prisons, and China continues to use these rules to suppress the people of East Turkistan today. These announced rules include targeting the following individuals:

1. Those who grow beards or wear the hijab

2. Those who use their mother tongue in schools

3. Those who refuse to smoke or drink alcohol

4. Those who wear clothing with Arabic script

5. WhatsApp users

6. Those who argue with or file complaints against local officials

7. Those who travel to other countries

8. Those who participate in funeral ceremonies according to tradition

9. Those who fast

10. Those who enter mosques

However, in recent years, China has invited officials, journalists, and social workers from some countries to East Turkistan, taking them on visits to pre-arranged locations and arranging meetings with specific individuals. Through these measures, China is attempting to deceive the international community and give the false impression that the people of East Turkestan live in full enjoyment of their rights.
