China continues its false propaganda about East Turkistan in Africa.

China continues to intensify its fake propaganda campaign in various countries aimed at concealing the genocidal crimes in East Turkistan. Pro-China official Erkin Tuniyaz visited Ethiopia and Zambia last week.

According to the Chinese media outlet Tengritag (Tianshan), the deputy secretary of the so-called "Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region" and puppet chairman Erkin Tuniyaz formed a delegation. They visited Ethiopia and Zambia from May 11 to 18. He also visited the headquarters of the African Union.

The report claimed that the purpose of this visit was to expand cooperation with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative in Africa, "tell the story of Xinjiang well," and "present Xinjiang's image," further confirming that this visit was merely a fake propaganda campaign.

During this period, Erkin Tuniyaz met with African Union officials and leaders of both countries, held a so-called "coordination meeting between local Xinjiang and Ethiopian enterprises," and signed cooperation agreements with several companies and states.

During his visit, Tuniyaz also sought to achieve his primary goal of whitewashing the genocidal crimes in East Turkistan, repeating China's claims of comprehensive "Xinjiang governance measures," economic development, social stability, human rights guarantees, ethnic unity, religious harmony, and other false claims.

For years, China has intensified its false propaganda regarding East Turkistan by sending delegations to various countries and organising planned visits by foreign delegations to East Turkistan to cover up its crimes. For example, a Gambian journalist delegation visited East Turkistan from May 8 to 12, in line with China's disinformation campaign.

A 2022 report published by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) stated that Chinese outward-looking propaganda has been effective in the Middle East and Africa. The report indicated that, through its anti-racism and anti-colonial propaganda in Middle Eastern and African countries, China is attempting to shift the blame onto Western countries and distract them from the East Turkistan issue.
