China Attempts to Dominate Middle East's Arms Market

China Displays Military Aircraft in Bid to Dominate Middle East Arms Market

According to the South China Morning Post's February 21 report, China has begun showcasing its J-35 fighter jet in the Middle East, attempting to capture the region's arms market.

China displayed its carrier-capable stealth J-35 fighter at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates. The J-35 reportedly bears similarities to the American F-35 and has attracted attention from several regional buyers. China Aviation Technology International Corporation has also begun promoting the J-10CE, an export version of the J-10C. Currently, this aircraft has been sold to Pakistan and Egypt.

The UAE and other Middle Eastern countries are seeking advanced fighter jets, but geopolitical tensions have delayed U.S. arms sales. According to analysts, some countries might choose Chinese aircraft to reduce their dependence on Western suppliers. However, concerns exist about the quality and reliability of Chinese military equipment.
