China's false information and propaganda in India exposed

Indian intelligence officials have identified a group of social media celebrities in India who are spreading fake messages in favor of China.

Voice of America reported on March 10 that Indian security agencies, tasked with monitoring China's activities, have compiled a list of the various activities and content posted on social media by analyzing information and monitoring social media influencers.

An Indian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told VOA: “These internet celebrities may have acted for financial gain. They helped the Chinese regime spread false propaganda in India. This poses a serious threat to India, which has a large following among young people, some of whom have millions of followers. Their messages are very important in shaping public opinion in India, and I emphasize the urgency of eliminating this threat.

Indian officials believe that all this is part of China's strategy to use the influence of social media in rival countries such as India to disseminate Chinese information. Most disinformation is based on opposing scientific studies, media reports, and statements from foreign governments.

India and the United States are the main targets of the Chinese regime's current disinformation campaign, Indian analysts said.
