China's awarding of an international award to a museum designed to distort Uyghur history has drawn criticism

China has been criticized for giving an international award to a museum built to market its claims that "East Turkistan has always belonged to itself and that Uyghur culture is a part of Chinese culture."
According to Voice of America, this year's Museum Design Gold Award was given to the Kucha Underground Ancient Cemetery Museum, which China opened in July this year. The award is jointly distributed by the American Association of Museums and the International Awards Consortium. It is claimed that the award was given to the museum in East Turkistan for its display of a 1,700-year-old cemetery and the combination of ancient history and modern design. In a situation where the US government is criticizing China's genocide in East Turkistan, the action of the international award organization in the United States has been criticized for distorting and erasing the history of China's Uyghurs.
By opening the Kucha Underground Ancient Cemetery Museum in the middle of this year, China aims to distort the history and culture of East Turkistan and the Uyghurs. China has distorted the construction characteristics and cultural elements of the ancient tomb in a scientific way, saying that this cemetery has been under the control of China since the history of East Turkistan. Rather, it has been vigorously promoting the shameful myth that all ethnic groups in China live together.
Although China has established many museums and research institutions in East Turkistan in recent years, it is actually working to hide its occupation of East Turkistan, distorting and erasing Uyghur history. Ancient mosques, madrassas, mausoleums, and shrines with hundreds of years of history are being destroyed by China.
