Indian Foreign Minister: China's territorial dispute is ridiculous

The Indian Foreign Minister said that China's territorial dispute over Arunachal was ridiculous and insisted that "Arunachal is part of India."
According to France International News, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reiterated India's position on Arunachal's territorial integrity during his visit to Singapore on March 23, and strongly opposed China's territorial dispute over the region.
Jaishankar delivered a speech at the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore and rejected China's territorial claims. In his speech, he stressed that Arunachal is an integral part of India and has always belonged to India, and that China has always rejected such statements.
"This is not a new problem. China has made such allegations and continues to expand them. These allegations were ridiculous in the beginning, and they remain ridiculous even today. Arunachal is part of India... Our position on this has been very clear and consistent," Jaishankar said in his speech. He added, "This issue will be part of the ongoing border negotiations between us and China."
Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defence, responded to a reporter's question on March 15, saying that "southern Tibet" (Arunachal) has always belonged to China, China has never recognized India's territorial claims, and China and India have never formally recognized the demarcation of the border. He declared that it could not be denied that “southern Tibet” had been the land of China from time immemorial.
