Another Chinese accused of espionage in Germany

A spy crisis has erupted between China and Germany, and a Chinese aide to a member of a German right-wing political party has been arrested on charges of spying for the Chinese regime.
BBC reported on April 25 that German police arrested a Chinese aide of right-wing party member and European Parliament candidate Maximilian Kirch on charges of spying for China. This is a new espionage case after German police recently arrested three German citizens suspected of providing military intelligence to China.
According to German media reports, the arrested person is a 43-year-old Chinese national named Jian Guo. Jiang Guo is accused of leaking information about the European Parliament to Chinese intelligence agencies and spying on the Chinese opposition in Germany, prosecutors said.
German Interior Minister Nancy Feiser said that this is a very serious problem: "If it is confirmed that someone is spying on the European Parliament, it will be an attack on European democracy from within." German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann also said that if the allegations are true, there will be serious consequences.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded to questions about the espionage case at a regular press conference, declaring that the incident was slander and suppression of China. He announced that in recent years, every time a high-level meeting between China and Europe has followed, a new propaganda campaign will emerge, urging Germany to abandon its Cold War mentality.
