Apple removed more than a hundred apps offering chatgbt and similar services from its store in China, where a regulation on generative artificial intelligence was due to go into effect within two weeks. This was a shocking move from Apple to China, which was preparing to draw up regulations related to artificial intelligence. Apple has decided to make a radical change to the App Store regarding this regulation in China.
The apps reportedly included one called Spark, which had a high-profile launch in the Chinese App Store on June 29, 2023. An AI-based chatbot and translation service called ChatGAi Plus, which was ranked number 9 on the chart of paid apps, was also removed.
Apple had previously removed about 30,000 games from the Chinese App Store, then more than 94,000 apps, and then 44,000 games from the App Store China said it didn't have the right licenses. The company has now removed more than 100 ChatGPT-like apps. Apple has informed developers that the apps contain illegal content in China.
