Ancient building with collapsed roof shows China's hypocrisy

On May 19, most of the roof of the “Drum Tower” in Fengyang County, Quzhou City, China, which is said to be 600 years old, suddenly collapsed. The leaked videos show that many Chinese people were around the tower at the time, and they all ran in all directions when the incident occurred. A thick cloud of dust rose around the building.

It turns out that the roof of the tower was renovated just a year ago, and this incident has once again raised questions about the quality of Chinese construction. In addition, according to the New York Times, although the tower is said to be centuries old, the tower was destroyed during the war in the 1850s, and only the foundation was saved. The current porch was built 30 years ago and is considered a "fake monument."

Even though the roof of this building was recently built and renovated last year, this incident, along with the collapse of a Chinese-built building during the earthquake in Thailand, has raised concerns about corruption and poor construction quality in China.
