"The U.S. government has announced reaching agreement with Russia on four points during their talks.
According to Al Jazeera's February 19 report, the U.S. State Department issued a statement following talks between U.S.-Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia.
The statement indicated that the two countries reached agreement on four points, including resolving mutual difficulties and ending the Russia-Ukraine war. According to the statement, both sides agreed to establish a consultation mechanism to resolve issues in bilateral relations and maintain regular communication between their foreign affairs teams. The two sides also agreed to appoint their own high-level groups to work towards ending the Russia-Ukraine war in a swift, long-term, sustainable manner that would be acceptable to all parties.
The statement also noted that both sides agreed to lay foundations for the future, cooperate on matters of common geopolitical interest, and invest in areas with investment opportunities. These cooperation opportunities would materialize after the end of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Finally, the participating delegates promised to maintain contact and ensure timely, effective dialogue moving forward."
