The chairman of the US House of Representatives' top committee has called for tariffs on all Chinese-made semiconductor chips.

According to the South China Morning Post on March 12, John Molina, chairman of the US House of Representatives' top committee, called on the US Trade Representative to impose tariffs on all Chinese-made semiconductor chips and to work with allies like Japan and Korea to counter Chinese chip exports. This request comes amid President Donald Trump's threat to impose 25% tariffs on EU imports and tariffs on Taiwanese semiconductor products.

The US Trade Representative is currently reviewing Chinese semiconductor products with the aim of protecting American manufacturers. During a hearing on the matter, the importance of coordination with allies to ensure secure semiconductor supply chains was emphasized.
