It has been learned that the 6 siblings of Uyghur film producer Abduhelil Ebulkasim, who was previously imprisoned by the genocidal CCP regime for producing TV programs, evening shows, and various programs about Uyghur culture, are also in prison.
In a recent investigation conducted by Free Asia Radio via satellite phone, it was reported that Uyghur producer Ebulkasim was sentenced this April and transferred to Yerken Peylu Prison, also known as Kashgar Prison.
7 BROTHERS ARE SENT TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON
It was reported that Abduhelil Ebulkasım, the owner of the company “Dolan Ticaret” and a film producer, and these 7 brothers, who are known in Kashgar, and one of the entrepreneurs of Uyghur origin who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Kashgar Prison, were sentenced to between 17 and 9 years in prison.
According to the witnesses who did not want to be named and who are familiar with the situation, it was learned that Abduhelil Ebulkasim, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison and is currently serving his sentence in Kashgar Prison, has 6 other brothers in his family, and all of them were sent to prison.
In the large-scale detention and arrest campaign in 2017, 7 brothers Sabir Ebulkasim, Pazil Ebulkasim, Mamet Ebulkasim, Mammattursun Ebulkasim, Abduhelil Ebulkasim, Yusufcan Ebulkasim and Abdusalam Ebulkasim were arrested.
Their father, Ebulkasim Efendi, is known as a respected businessman involved in trade, construction, repair, and infrastructure in Kashgar. These seven brothers, who started their businesses in different areas in Kashgar’s Heytgah market, established the “Ak Orda Trade Market” in Kashgar in the following years and engaged in the trade of construction materials and electrical appliances. Pazil Ebulkasim expanded his business to cargo (transportation) and established a place in the Central Asian and Turkish markets, becoming one of the leading Uyghur traders. It is said that the seven brothers are also involved in hotel management. Uyghur activist Abduveli Eyüp, the founder of Norway-based Hjelp, who first tweeted about the arrest of film producer Abdulhelil Ebulkasim, confirmed the information that all six of Abduhelil Ebulkasım’s brothers are in prison on his relevant channels in the past few weeks.
IT ALL STARTED IN 2017
These 7 brothers, who started their careers in the 1990s and rose to fame after the 2010s, are said to have been blacklisted and taken to a concentration camp with the massive detention campaign in 2017. At the end of 2019, all but Abduhelil Ebulkasim were sentenced to various prison terms. According to the statement of the security officer in Kashgar prison, these seven brothers were sentenced to 17 and 9 years in prison.
Referring to a source with knowledge on the subject, Abduveli Eyüp, the founder of Uyghur Hjelp, claims that the TV programs, evening shows and various audiovisual recordings related to Uyghur culture that Ebulkasim invested in and produced led to his arrest on charges of inciting separatism.
