3.1 magnitude earthquake hits Lopnur province

According to the China Earthquake Monitoring Center, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck Lopnur County, East Turkistan, at 02:00 Urumqi Time on October 14, at 40.88 north latitude and 84.12 east longitude. The epicenter was estimated to be 17 kilometers deep.
The Chinese authorities have not released any detailed information on whether the earthquake occurred in a residential area or in an uninhabited mountainous area.
