1 Police Officer Killed in Anti-China Protests in Pakistan!

Thousands of people are protesting against the expansion of a Chinese-focused project at the Gwadar port in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. The protesters are demanding that the region’s natural resources be used for the benefit of the local people. The protests, which began on July 24, have included clashes with security forces. One soldier was killed and 16 people were injured. Protesters said more than 300 people have been detained.
CHINA HAD INVESTED $65 BILLION IN THE GWADAR PORT
China had invested $65 billion in projects carried out in the Gwadar port, close to the Indian border, as part of its “Belt and Road” initiative. In protests against the project in Pakistan, 25 people were detained on charges of “interfering with the government.” However, protesters claim that the number of detainees has exceeded 300. It is also alleged that some protesters have disappeared and that the number is approaching thousands. The government says the missing people joined armed groups.
