China has been concealing its genocide crimes in East Turkistan through organized tourism, and several reports have been published about this. "Genocide tourism" in East Turkistan continued to increase in the previous season, reaching 45 million person-visits.
According to the so-called "Xinjiang Autonomous Region" Culture and Tourism Department, the number of tourists visiting East Turkistan in the first quarter of this year reached 44.634 million person-visits, an increase of 9.08% compared to the same period last year. Tourist spending reached 49.248 billion yuan, an increase of 12.58% compared to the same period last year. China has also organized more than 21,000 events during this period, in addition to numerous tourism exhibitions and trade fairs.
In recent years, China has been expanding "genocide tourism" to create an appearance that nothing is happening in East Turkistan, attempting to cover up the genocide while also generating enormous economic income. Regrettably, some international travel companies and hotels are also complicit in China's crimes.
The "Uyghur Human Rights Project" based in Washington released a new report on April 17, revealing that despite calls and warnings from the international community, 189 international hotels are doing business or planning to do business in East Turkistan. The report disclosed that the rapid increase in the number of hotels coincides with China's intensification of "genocide tourism" propaganda and expansion of tourist destinations.
